What is Picture Style? 

Picture Styles are unique to Canon EOS cameras, and selected high-performance PowerShots. They are available in-camera as individual presets, which subtly adjust the colour, contrast, and sharpness of your shots. You can apply the Picture Style before you capture the shot, or afterwards if you shoot in RAW. The 6 standard in-camera Picture Styles are:

“Standard” picture style
This is an all-around Picture Style which makes the image look sharp and vivid. This is the basic colour of EOS Digital and produces the vivid colours and contrast level that people tend to prefer with their photographic subjects.

 “Portrait” picture style
This is a Picture Style that emphasises skin tones when taking pictures of people. Additionally, the sharpness is dialed back to leave a softer image

 “Landscape” picture style
To capture the vivid colours and contrast of landscapes, this Picture Style is specifically designed to make blue skies a deeper blue and green trees more vivid.  Additionally, sharpness is dialed up to give the most impressive impact for beautiful landscape photography.

“Neutral” picture style
The “Neutral” Picture Style is characterised by subdued saturation and contrast in which subjects are recorded in rich detail. This setting is suitable for expressing subtle variations and shades within vivid colours to convey a more restrained visual expression. Neutral is a good, flat starting point for image processing.

 “Faithful” picture style
This is a Picture Style that records colour and most accurately depicts what we see with the naked eye. Saturation and contrast levels are more subdued so the colours and textures of the subject look just as they are, making this Picture Style particularly useful for situations when the original colour must be expressed as faithfully as possible - e.g. product photography.

What is “Monochrome” picture style?
This is a Picture Style which produces a black-and-white image. It brings attention to the subject's form and light and shadow.
