One of the main features of the app is to download images from your camera to your smartphone. In order to save the images, it must have access to your Photos app.
Notifications on your smartphone are used to send you information related directly to the functionality of the app. It is not used as a mechanism to send you promotional material.
If you’re using the Canon Camera Connect app with your PowerShot or IXUS camera, you have the ability to add GPS location information to your images from your smartphone. The way this works is by enabling the ‘Location Information’ feature of the app.
Selected camera models use Bluetooth to establish a low energy ‘always on’ connection to your smartphone. This makes it easier to quickly connect to your smartphone to download images, or remotely control your camera
Once you’ve established a connection between your smartphone and your camera, tap the ‘Images on camera’ button. This will show thumbnails of all the images stored on your camera’s memory card. You can download images individually, or select multiple images to download all at once.
Once you’ve established a connection between your smartphone and your camera, tap the ‘Remote live view shooting’ button. This will show a real-time view of what your camera sees. This is a great function for where you to use a tripod and a low shutter speed, thus avoiding camera shake. It’s also a great option for where you need to mount the camera a few metres away from you.
If you’ve followed the instructions in the video, and you’re still having trouble connecting, we suggest you start all over again from scratch. To do this, delete and reinstall the app on your smartphone, and also reset the camera’s wireless settings. Look for the ‘Reset’ option in your camera’s wireless settings menu.
Canon Camera Connect is an app that is compatible with dozens of past and present Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled cameras. For this reason, there are some functions that are not compatible with all models. Refer to the compatibility information on the Canon Camera Connect app download page on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
You can download JPEG images and movies that were shot with your camera.
When you select the ‘Images on Camera’ option, you can choose to download files in their original size, or you can resize them to save space on your phone. The original files on your camera won’t be affected.
